Turkish President visiting Iran to element PKK and demolish plans of Kurdish state

16/06/2002 KurdishMedia.com

London (KurdishMedia.com) 16 June 2002: Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer visiting Iran tomorrow, Monday, reported Alhayat, London-based Arabic daily. Kurdish analysts believe Sezer's visit is related to the current development in the Kurdish issued in the region. Dr Jawad Mella, the President of the Kurdistan National Congress, told KurdishMedia.com, "There are two possible reasons behind Sezer's visit. Firstly, Turkey negotiates with Iran to eliminate the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) camps on the border areas. Secondly, Turkey asks Iran to assist Turkey and Syria in the demolishing any plans for the establishment of a Kurdish State in South Kurdistan." "Part of this deal is that Turkey will close the file of the Azerbaijan part of Iran, in which Turkey has been claiming for years. Secondly, Turkey will develop a substantial import trade of oil and gas with Iran," Dr Mella added. Dr Mella was very critical of both Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK). "The PUK and KDP have not learned much from the Kurdish history. While our enemies are uniting against us, we are still engage in side-issues and have not developed a unity amongst the Kurds. There are still several powers in South Kurdistan de facto state, e.g. PUK, KDP, Turkish-backed Turkomans and Iranian backed Islamic groups. Surely the sensible action would be to hold a national election and establish a legitimate Kurdish parliament and government. This will make Kurdish in a much strong position for the future Iraq, if that is where the PUK and KDP want to be." Turkey has recently started making noise on the Kirkuk issue. This has been seen by Kurds and Iraqi oppositions as infringements into the Iraqi internal affairs. The Iraqi oppositions are extremely unhappy in the way that Turkey supports some Turkoman groups, such as Turkoman Front. The oppositions are waiting to remove Saddam in power. After accomplishing this big plan, these "hands of Turkey" would be cut off over night. Turkey is aware of this very well. That is why she is putting a contingency plan in place by making deals with Iran and Syria. Fortunately for Kurds both countries have been recognised by the US administration as terrorist states. The US administration has also undermined Turkey by not inviting her to the last Kurds-US meeting in which the vital decision about the future of Iraq was made. Turkey will loss more credibility by negotiating and dealing with states that are recognised by the West as terrorists. When the Kurdish delegations raised the Turkish issue in the last meeting, the US administration reassured Kurds that they cut any hand that interfere with their plan for Iraq. Turkey has seen by the US as a financial burden and in attacking Iraq, it has been predicted that the US may either us Jordan or the Arab Gulf states. Intelligence sources close to KurdishMedia.com have revealed that there are recent US military activities around Bahrain and the satellite station, which is controlled by the US, to view these areas has been jammed. The US has also access to commercial jets to move military around the world. Whether the movement of troops have already started to the Gulf States cannot be confirmed by KurdishMedia.com.
